This is my custom-designed/built featherweight combat robot, SAKE SCHTROVN. It weighs 30 pounds and sports an arm with multiple mounting options. It has regularly improved over the years. In 2024, SAKE SCHTROVN won 3rd place in the annual UIUC Robobrawl competition.
2023
The first year was a bit hectic. In the debut competition, the main weapon was a chair bolted to the arm. Later competitions would see this get replaced with a plow. The plow was slightly more effective. It was able to flip robots and deflect fire. Later in the year, I built a rotating disk end effector. This saw arm could inflict damage at a distance.
2024
2024 was a more successful year for SAKE SCHTROVN. The saw arm was in full swing. The only competition entered in 2024 was UIUC's Robobrawl. Unfortunately, the first match was lost in a five-second ringout. I managed to become the king of the loser's bracket, eventually achieving 3rd place. The best surprise was later seeing that the folks behind the competition placed my photo on the main page of the Robobrawl website for the 2025 competition (seen above).
